WACHS FOR ASSEMBLY

ABOUT DANA

Representative Dana Wachs is running for reelection to the Wisconsin State Assembly’s 91st District. He was born and raised in Eau Claire and is grateful to call Wisconsin home. He lives in Eau Claire with his wife Beverly and their dog Artie. He is the proud father of three talented children.

Raised by a public school teacher and City of Eau Claire employee - Dana learned the values of public service at an early age. After attending Marquette University, he received a law degree from Valparasio University. He has spent the last thirty years standing up for consumer rights and seeking to protect everyday Wisconsinites.

Wachs has been recognized as one of the top lawyers in Wisconsin by Milwaukee Magazine and was named one of the “Top 100 Lawyers” by the National Trial Lawyers Organization. He is currently a member of the Wisconsin State Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Wisconsin Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and the National Trial Lawyer Organization.

Wachs never intended to run for office, but as he watched Wisconsin values deteriorate through poor policymaking, he realized that he could help make a difference in the state he loves so much. He stepped up and served on the Eau Claire City Council from 2009-2012, sitting on the following: City/County Health Committee, Transit Commission, Affirmative Action Committee, Parks and Waterway Committee, Library Board and the Economic Policy Advisory Committee.

Wachs was first elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in November 2012 and currently serves as the ranking Democratic member on the Assembly Committees on Judiciary and Colleges and Universities, as well as the Constitution and Ethics Committee. He has introduced a nonpartisan redistricting referendum, the environmentally friendly “Save Our Lakes” bill, a “Revolving Door” bill and also supported “Higher Ed, Lower Debt,” as well funding for the Eau Claire Confluence Project.

When he isn’t serving Wisconsin or fighting for consumer rights, he enjoys spending time with Beverly and Artie, hunting grouse, fishing muskie and reading.
